The neighborhoods in Plovdiv

Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria. The city is the most dynamically developing center in Southern Bulgaria. Its economy is based on the well-developed multi-profile industry, services, tourism and information technology. Many cultural events are also held in Plovdiv: an international fair, the international theater festival "Scene at the Crossroads", "Trap Fest", "Night of Plovdiv", the music forum Sounds of The Ages, the international folklore festival "Plovdiv", etc.
Plovdiv is divided into six Administrative Regions. The city is constantly growing and the neighborhoods are becoming more and more extensive. Each district includes many neighborhoods whose names have already been forgotten. 

  • Central District - The largest district by territory includes: Old Town, Kapana, Grape Market, Marasha, Hadji Hassan Mahala, Judges Quarter, Catholic Quarter, Military Hospital. Recently, a new district "Kolodruma" has been formed in the central area, which includes the buildings around the sports hall.
  • "Iztochen" area - part of it is accepted as the Broad Center, consists of: Kamenitsa ІІ, Gladno Pole /more and more often attributed to Kamenitsa 2/, Stolipinovo, Izgrev, Druzhba and Chaika.
  • Zapaden district - It is considered the greenest district, but in recent years things have changed. It is divided into: Garrison Furna, the western part of Mladezhki hill, Proslav, Smyrnensky III and IV around Bratska Mogila are also separated, Smyrnensky V around Grebnia Canal towards Proslav.
  • Northern District - Better known as Karshiyaka, but the natives of Plovdiv actually know that "Kirshiyaka" is the neighborhood around Novotela, apart from this the area also consists of the following neighborhoods: Gerdjika, Gagarin, Gaganitsa, Filipovo, Zaharna Fabrika, Todor Kableshkov, Sheker Mahala, Harman Mahala, Maritsa Gardens, Excavation.
  • District "South" - The most densely populated district in the city. It consists of: "Hristo Botev" quarter - north; "Hristo Botev" quarter - south; "Macedonia" quarter; "Komatevo" quarter; "Yuzhen" residential complex quarter; "Moder 1st stage" quarter; "Moder II stage" quarter; "Vastanicheski" quarter - north; "Vastanicheski" quarter - south; Ostromila quarter and Belomorski quarter
  • Trakia district - The youngest district in Plovdiv. The construction of the first blocks in the area began in 1973. It consists of: Lyuljatsi, Panayot Volov, Todor Kableshkov, Khan Krum, Targovski, Opalchenski, Kapitan Burago, Oborishte, Khan Asparuh, Vazrazhdane, Zahari Zograf, Lauta, Skobeleva Maika.

And did you know these names? Over the years, things change and are forgotten, the names become more and more comprehensive, it doesn't matter at all, because Plovdiv is an amazing city to live in, whichever neighborhood you choose.
